The “Halo Effect”- Is Jaxson Dart the Ultimate Pretty Boy QB

I was sitting around exercising my 12oz curls after the family had all went to sleep and was watching some training camp interviews…my favorite August activity. The guys from Giant’s Nation were interviewing Jaxson Dart, the New York Giant’s new rookie quarterback of the future. After a solid twenty minute interview there was one glaring fact that I couldn’t stop thinking about….this man is destined to be a franchise qb.

Why am I so sure? His confidence, his ability to command a room, and of course he’s got a nice arm and is extremely athletic. But how did my brain trick itself into being so confident in him and how did his brain trick himself into believing he should be “the man” in every room he’s in. One simple observation, the guy is drop dead gorgeous. Then I started thinking, wow that’s a good looking guy. Then… it started to click. He has never lacked confidence. Every angle, every picture, every new room he steps into he never has the thoughts in the back of his head that 99% of the population have of “do I look good'“ in this moment.

This all sounds very shallow and ridiculous….but after about 6 of my 12oz curls I decided to do some research. it is what they call the “Halo Effect”. This is when perceived leadership abilities/qualities are amplified when the subject is attractive. This effect is influential to what others think about this person, and also how he deems himself. In this very specific line of work (NFL QB) you would gain a great advantage having unwavering confidence and the “attention” of the others in your locker room.

This experiment was done by ResearchGate , when they found that there was an actual correlation between facial attractiveness and QBR, the main stat used when gauging the success of an NFL QB.

There’s nothing better than having a weird late night thought about your QB being a handsome devil which means he can’t fail and then doing some quick research and finding out that there’s actually something to it.

Great hair, perfect smile, athletic, and a fast learner….Giants fans I’d say we got ourselves a good one.

—This was a weird one to write lol…choosing the picture for the cover will be even weirder.
