Dart Shines in the Giants Domination of the New York Jets: Giants 31, Jets 12
Suffering from a blistering hangover..it was a great remedy to wake up to article and article obsessing over the play of Jaxson dart.
On track, is a constant term used by coach Brian Daboll, when answering questions about Jaxson Dart’s development. Underneath his usual “Bill Belichick” approach to answering questions from the media…you can feel him smiling in his soul. Things are going as planned. The defense looks dominate. Our veteran QB throws quite possibly the prettiest deep ball in the history of the NFL, and our young gun slinging QB, Jaxson Dart, is looking polished and confident. The rookie finished 14-of-16 for 137 yards with a TD passing and another rushing.
It’s preseason we are all well aware, but believe it or not…when we’ve looked bad in the regular season…we ALSO looked bad in the preseason. We are putting up more points through 2 consecutive games then anytime this decade (not sure if factual). One of the biggest surprises of the season thus far is the performance of this offensive line. I can’t remember the last time our quarterbacks have had cleaner pockets and more time to make decisions. Our quarterbacks in turn are also doing their part in making concise quick decisions and pulling the trigger.
Back to pretty boy. In the latter years of the Manning regime and throughout the entirety of the Daniel Jones era we dealt with an infectious case of happy feet syndrome in the pocket. Never looking or feeling 100% confident in the pocket, rushing progressions, and having the end result being quick 3 and outs or turnovers more times than not. This entire quarterback room passes the eye test for confidence. Having confidence in yourself first and your line second that there will be time to make progressions is one of the biggest differences I have noticed this year. Dart stands tall in the pocket using his ability to evade at any moment to keep defenders on their heels and his elite arm to be able to make throws anywhere on the field at any point. Jaxson’s star is starting to shine…and in light of that there is an incoming New York specific potential problem that may arise….when will Jaxson Dart start?
The conversation has begun and the talking heads are running wild with this topic. An argument could be made that a bad loss or two and it would make a lot of sense to throw Dart out there to the wolves to see how he responds. We have 3 starting caliber quarterbacks in the room and that would be a great way to start assessing what type of qb we really have here. A heavy portion of both Brian Daboll and Russel Wilson’s press conferences consisted of questions about Jaxson Dart. This trend will not stop and it will not slow down as long as Jaxson Dart is performing like an elite quarterback and continuing to dress so well.
As of right now the New York Giant’s problems are all “good problems to have”. Lots of depth in the QB room….all quarterbacks performing well enough to win the job…and not playing the studs on defense for more than 20 plays to keep them rested. It is just the preseason…but you can’t help but be excited about this upcoming season. Lord knows we all just wish the schedule was a little kinder to us.

The conversation has started and is becoming more and more common…who should be QB1 in New York?
