Week 4 Preview: Giants vs. Chargers- 5 Keys to Victory for Big Blue
Jaxson Dart.
There’s “A New Hope” in New York. Patience is key…but flashes of greatness is a must.
One more sleep until we potentially start the next 15 years of our New York Giants fandom. Jaxson Dart will make his debut for the Giants on Sunday when they take on the Chargers. The Chargers are heavy favorites going into Sunday with a -6.5 spread going into the game. Chargers are elite on defense, and they are enjoying incredible Quarterback play from their stud Justin Herbert. Probably the biggest difference going into the game is their glaring advantage at head coach, position held by Jim Harbough. He loves ball more than any man or women on this planet. I love him. We must destroy him. But how?
Here are the top five ways the Giants can pull off the upset on Sunday, ranked in order of importance. Also small note, Carl Banks read and commented on my previous blog post….cool as shit. Anyways, here’s the list!
Five Keys to a New York Giant’s Upset over the Chargers in Week 4
The defense can’t just “show up” or be the better looking side of our time…..they need to DOMINATE. We need a minimum of 4 Team Sacks and we need astronomical Pass Pressure numbers. This is paramount in us staying in this game.
Coach Like We Have A Brain
I am a fan. I don’t grind tape. Rookie quarterback is making career debut. We as fans expect to lean on Cam in the run game, play up tempo, and a lot of RPOs. So guess what? They expect that too….so let’s attempt to be UNPREDICTABLE at times. Please?
Our line has had moments of looking very solid, and moments of looking like the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. Andrew thomas, hey bud….force your way into playing a full game. Stop letting them take you out. It’s getting embarassing and good lord we need you. As long as Thomas and my man Jermaine can hold up the edges, we should be okay in the passing game.
What we need from Jaxson is control. He doesn’t need to be great…I can almost guarantee you he won’t be great. But if we can have a couple moments in the game where the play looks dead or it’s 3rd and long and the pressure get’s on him quick and he breaks out for a late game 1st down 12 yard run….that will be the difference maker. Limit big mistakes, take smart chances, and make it hard on the defense with well timed explosive runs.
Play Calling- Get #1 the Damn Ball
Malik Nabers. Ever heard of him? Yeah, neither has Mike Kafka. Our boiling seat offensive coordinator that seemingly forgot we have one of the best and most explosive wide receivers in the entire football league….didn’t get him the ball until the FOURTH QUARTER LAST WEEK. If this happens again, he should be fired at half time.
If ALL of these things happen…then we have about a 25% chance of pulling off the upset. Which is more than enough to trick myself into thinking it’s a sure thing.
