The Who The Hell Is That Really Series: Russell Wilson

Once a week we are going to try and highlight a member of the New York Football Giants and help not only educate ourselves about the men behind the facemasks but our fanbase.

Had to begin the series with our most important addition to the squad. I believe if you slapped open a dictionary and looked next to the word “leader” you’d find his pearly whites smiling right back at you. He’s a veteran, someone who has done it all, and is an absolute alpha when it comes to commanding a room/huddle. Daniel Jones was a great intelligent young man who gave it his absolute all when playing for the G-Men..but there was always this natural confidence that was missing. Always a little pit in my stomach when he’d drop back to pass that he’d blank out and get happy feet and toss it right to the other team. That feeling is completely gone now.

Russell Wilson I’d say is one of the 10-20 founding fathers of “dual threat” qbs. A good way to describe the way he carries himself during a play and moving around the pocket is “slick”. His slides are probably the best all-time, and his quickness mixed with his strong arm made him an absolute nightmare in his prime. Coming into the league in 2012, he took the league by storm as a member of the Seattle Seahawks eventually leading them to a Super Bowl victory and continuing to have an elite career carrying 10 pro bowl selections with him to New York.

Wilson knows what it’s like to be under the bright lights. Married to superstar singer Ciara, and being one of the main pieces on multiple national ad campaigns for years…I don’t believe the New York media will freeze him up. He’s an underdog story going from NC State to Nebraska and then eventually landing in the NFL as an undersized third round pick. His confidence, elite arm, slick athleticism, and ability to lead a group of alpha males is why EVERY Giant’s fan should be excited this year.

This article did not contain the amount of fun facts and entertainment that we are striving for….but I am still warming up the typing fingers…it’s been awhile.

As a completely reasonable Giant’s fan (sarcasm)…I do think Russell’s leadership and ability can be the missing piece to this puzzle that can lead us to a very competitive at least season. We can’t wait.
