Eye Test Game Review: The Giants lose in embarrassing fashion in week 5 to the previously defeated Saints

New York Giants lose 26-14 to the New Orleans Saints

Wow, well here goes nothing. I called it the “eye test” game review because it is written directly following the game with zero tape watched (I wouldn’t watch any anyways), about 5-6 adult beverages, and multiple watch stoppages from kid crisis’s. I am very ANTI “we lost it they didn’t win it” type of game explanation. This is an obvious exception. 14-3…Giants with the lead….the young sexy QB was in flow…the defense looked servicable…all was good. Then cue the self-implosion.

What followed was something from an SNL skit describing how sad and adorably pathetic it is to be a fan of the New York Giants. Drop…drop…fumble….fumble….fumble…interception…interception. That was the game following our fast start. We not only beat ourself, but we beat our own asses. Our playoff hopes are pretty much done, but I think building a culture of winning is always of utmost importance…and if we do not need a QB in next year’s draft, there is no point in losing every game to pick first. We must win now. In a sea of disappointment…there were still some highlights and definitely some “lowlights” as well.

Lowlights from the Game

  • Turnovers: We KILLED ourselves with turnovers. Balls slipping from hands, being baby punched out, and pulled from our gloveless hands. You can not win if you commit five turnovers more than the other team.

  • Our Wide Receivers: Or lack thereof. Malik Nabers out for year…what’s the plan?! Should we do everything the same and just move forward with one of the worst WR rooms in the league? Or maybe…just maybe..we should pick someone fucking up that can run and catch to play for the New York Giants. Today was a GREAT example of why this entire staff is on the hot seat.

  • Penalties: Name a way a team can “beat themselves”…and we did it.

  • GM Joe Schoen: I am usually a believer in Joe…may it be as blind as Stevie’s pet mouse. The fact we kicked off on Sunday without picking up an additional WR or pulling more WRs up from the practice squad is just beyond my comprehension.

Highlights from the Game

  • Jaxson Dart: You can see his potential. He will continue to make rookie mistakes, especially because his atheltic ability gives him the opportunity to make plays that should be quick throw aways or sacks have more time to process…leading to occasional interceptions. He’ll be electric, and the cut of his jib is made for tough times like this season.

  • Offensive Line’s Pass Blocking: Andrew Thomas, if he can stay healthy, is a top 3 tackle in the NFL. Without a doubt. Jaxson had time in the pocket most of the game, just crazy fluke turnovers.

  • Cam’s Block on the Saint’s Defensive lineman putting him in the dirt.

  • Theo Johnson looked strong.

Getting harder to write these when I am running out of emotions. Following Giant’s Twitter is exhausting enough. Praying for a competitive game on Thursday against the Eagles.

LET’S GO BIG BLUE!
